Summer 2016 we were invited to take part in a well-established festival in Chateau Gombert, a district of Marseille. It lasted a week and featured French, Portugese, Kosovan and Mexican dance groups as well as Chippenham Morris.
Summer 2016 we were invited to take part in a well-established festival in Chateau Gombert, a district of Marseille. It lasted a week and featured French, Portugese, Kosovan and Mexican dance groups as well as Chippenham Morris.
It was exceedingly hot at times and fortunately most of the performances took place at night time. There were a couple of processions, main stage performances and various smaller spots in Chateau Gombert and round Marseille. There was time for sight seeing and the occasional beer as well. Most of the groups stayed in the folk centre, run by our hosts, and most of our meals were there so the groups got to know each other. There were communal social events as well as informal get togethers. For a glimpse of us on stage check out this clip from YouTube.
